About pro aurum
pro aurum is one of the first private trading houses for coins, bars and precious metals in the German-speaking area. Since its foundation in 2003, pro aurum has become the European market leader in precious metals trading. The Goldhaus (gold house) in Munich is not only the company headquarters, it is also a competence center and marketplace for trading in gold and silver. "Unique & Familiar", "Bright Gold vs. Matt Gray" and "Filigree & Solid At The Same Time" could be the design principles of this architectural masterpiece.
Task
At the beginning of the project, it was clear that pro aurum's new website did not just have to consider the company's CI, it also had to be a replica of Goldhaus and its design principles. This has been based on a minimalist design and reduction to the essentials. The previous shop with all its functions had to be drastically cleaned up, navigation ways simplified and actions reduced or restructured. All previous functionalities should remain. Depending on the importance of the function, many things have migrated from the main view into a modal / lightbox and redundant information has been completely omitted.
Implementation
At the start of the project, there was already a Magento base, which visually corresponded to the former shop and was already filled with products.
Instead of first creating concepts, prototypes and Photoshop designs, discussing them, correcting them and finally implementing them, I started directly with the frontend implementation.
In the browser a prototype was successively improved and the design was refined more and more.
The development directly in the browser had the advantage that I could work with real data, the customer always had insight into the progress of the site and navigation, user interactions and responsive behavior could be seen or understood immediately.
